On 13 April at midday, the Phase One Report of the Southport Inquiry will be published. We anticipate significant media coverage and know many of our staff, families and friends will have been impacted by the knife attack and murder of the three girls in July 2024. Mersey Care has introduced designated Place Operational Senior Leader roles to strengthen collaboration with our local partners and provide visible, consistent leadership across the neighbourhoods we serve.

We are changing how we share our stories about our services, people and communities. We are moving away from producing a printed magazine and our new approach will be digital online. This decision reflects our changing media landscape, rising demand for timely digital content and the evolving needs of our stakeholders, partners and communities.

From 15 April 2026, the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Tier 1 training competency will be have been added to the training requirements for some colleagues, as part of a structured rollout across the Trust.

RightFax is currently used in some services within Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and replaced the need for physical fax machines several years ago. As alternative communication methods are now widely used, it is proposed that the use of RightFax will end on 30 April 2026.
