NHS Credit Union

The NHS Credit Union offers affordable savings and ethical loans for NHS staff and their families, across Scotland and the North of England. It is a not-for-profit organisation.

The NHS Credit Union is your staff owned credit union, 26 years old, they are a not-for-profit financial cooperative, set up to combat unethical lending, and encourage a savings culture among the NHS workforce and their families.

We caught up with them to ask a few key questions about the service, and how it works:

  1. What are the biggest benefits for me and my family?  

Pay roll deduction and building savings direct from your NHS salary are two big benefits.

It’s easy to set up, and we have ethical loan products to give you and your family piece of mind, as well as instant access to your money through our NHS Credit Union app. Family members who live with you can join too, many current members also save for their children.

  1. Is it easy to join?

  1. Are my savings secure?  

Yes, very secure. The NHS Credit Union is dual regulated by the PRA  and the FCA - your savings are insured up to £85k.

  1. Who’s eligible to join?   

Our common bond reaches from Shetland to Sheffield.

We’re open to all NHS staff members currently working or retired, as well as family members who live with them - you can also open accounts for the children and young people in your life.
