The 1 May 2022 marks a year since Southport and Formby Services transferred to Mersey Care from Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

The new contract expanded and joined up our community and mental health services across the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton and has allowed for more integration of services, and more importantly continuity of care for the local communities.

Colleagues from the Southport and Formby services settled in straight away and felt incredibly valued and welcomed. In particular, being able to send a ‘Thank You’ to colleagues, the improved online training and receiving gift vouchers in recognition of the continued hard work and efforts.

There have been great successes too, including a positive response to winter pressures; despite COVID and further restrictions staff have accessed leadership training; rolled out the electronic safety huddle; integrated into other teams and established robust governance structures and much more.

Wendy Heckels, Care Group Manager said: “The safe landing and smooth integration of services last year, along with the achievements we have made during this time, is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

All services have played their part to ensure patients continued to receive the highest level of care, delivered as close to home as possible. Thank you and well done to all Southport and Formby staff!”
