From 1 April 2026, North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust* will provide Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Services in Halton.

The services will support early identification and support for children and young people with speech and language therapy needs, as well as ensuring children and young people can access specialist level support when they need it.

The specialist service will prioritise children and young people with the highest clinical needs, including those with swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.

Children on Communicates CIC active caseload as of 31 March 2026 do not need to re-refer into North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust.

Children already receiving communication support from other Halton independent providers will continue with their current support.

The referral form for children requiring a specialist level service and guidance about when to refer a child will be available on the Trust website (www.northcheshireandmersey.nhs.uk) from 1 April.
