The Liverpool Community Respiratory Team (CRT) has initiated a trial study alongside Brook Place, a local community addiction clinic, to pilot COPD optimisation clinics for heroin and crack cocaine smokers who are a high risk of developing COPD.
101 service users, who were receiving Opiate Substitution Treatment at Brook Place, were directed to Liverpool CRT for a drop in clinic. Housebound service users, who were visited by the CRT team and a Brook Place mental health worker or social worker, were also reviewed.
Further details about the study and results can be found in the attached document.
