This Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) course delivered by Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services is designed to help you gain a better understanding of your low mood/depression and focuses on improving your motivation. The course is a psychoeducational CBT group and is facilitated by a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
You will learn how to build a productive and varied routine that will create a sense of purpose and achievement in your life. You will be supported in tackling activities that you may have been avoiding – a common feature of low mood/depression. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to manage your mood and build a balanced and rewarding lifestyle. This will involve completing tasks in-between sessions each week to help you put into the practice the strategies introduced on the course.
Aims of the group:
- Understanding depression symptoms and your cycle of low mood
- Help to manage lack of motivation
- To identify and start to build a rewarding routine to help break the cycle of low mood
- Adapt how you approach activities
- Help to overcome obstacles and make activities more rewarding
- To feel more confident in being able to manage our mood with better coping mechanisms.

The course runs each Wednesday from the start date below for 5 consecutive weeks. A telephone follow up after the group has finished on week 6, is also available (if required).
All sessions run from 10am-11:30am and are delivered on Teams.
You will require access to emails and a device enabling you to join each of the sessions.
This is not a support group, it is a psychoeducational group which aims at providing you with better understanding of your mental health and alternative ways of coping to improve your overall wellbeing. You will be encouraged to participate, but there is no pressure to do so.

We can register you over the phone and book you in for a telephone assessment with one of our therapists to confirm the course is for you.
