Dr Mark Allington, Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, is retiring on 26 September.
Mark began working in the Liaison Team at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital in August 1999 as a Specialist Registrar. In 2003, he was appointed Consultant Psychiatrist at the Aintree site. At that time, he worked with 1 nurse and had 1 session a week to cover the whole hospital! As the team expanded over the years, and with extra funding, he was able to move over to Liaison full time at Aintree and Southport - a job which he has done for many years.
Mark has also worked in the community, as the in patient consultant covering a functional and organic ward at one time.
Mark has worked with some fantastic people over the years and enjoyed building relationships within the acute trusts, he hopes the team continues to provide an outstanding service to patients.
After he retires, Mark plans to travel.
His team all wish him well for his retirement!
