Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) Manager based at Leigh Moss Hospital, Liverpool, Andrew Garrity retires after more than 30 years service. Andrew started with the predecessor to Mersey Care in 1996 and worked at former Mossley Hill Hospital as a community mental health nurse supporting older people with dementia and mental health conditions.

Andrew became the CMHT manager soon after, during that time the team expanded in number and in the range of services provided. Andrew was keen to develop it into a flourishing multi-disciplinary team and was instrumental in developing services into intermediate care, young onset dementia and the establishment of the care navigator service.

Colleague and Dementia Lead Jill Pendleton said: “Andrew has been hardworking, responsive and ran a tight ship. He has been a strong leader and under his leadership the team has been accredited as excellent three times with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, won innovation awards and achieved outstanding in the Caring domain from CQC. He has a great sense of humour which everyone in the team will have experienced over the years! We wish him a happy, well-deserved retirement and will miss him very much.”
