Service users on Eden Ward at Rowan View took part in a cancer awareness event on Friday 20 October. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of all types of cancer and provide information and advice on health and wellbeing in general.
The event was warmly received by service users, with one saying: “I thought the day was extremely interesting and inspiring. I thought it was very helpful and it made me feel better and know more about different types of cancer - there were lots of information and leaflets.”
Health Care Assistant Andrea Milward who helped to run the event told us: “Listening to our service users’ voice is so important as this is how we know we are doing the best we can, supporting our service users through their recovery pathway. Helping them gain knowledge regarding cancer awareness can save lives.”
Michelle Carruthers, an Assistant Practitioner in the Secure Care Division, told us that she was “so pleased and so proud to be invited to be part of the day and cannot thank everyone enough for an inspiring day.”
Well done to all involved!
