The Unsung Hero Awards (UHA)  shine a light on the hard work and commitment of non-medical / non-clinical staff who are vital to our health service. Non-Medical employees and Volunteers make up around 50% of the approx. 1.5 million people employed by the NHS currently.

Mersey Care's Procurement team have been nominated in appreciation of their hard work over the last 12 months including their procurement and supplies response during COVID and keeping services safe, implementing a new finance system, and achieving the highest level of national accreditation for staff development. Neil Smith, Executive Director of Finance said “ I am always proud of my team and their hard work, but it is brilliant to see NHS finance and procurement professionals recognised nationally in this way, well done and good luck all!”

Other shortlisted services and organisations in the ‘Corporate Services’ category include Health ISVA Team, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals; HR Operations, University Hospitals North Middlesex; Education Training Team, and Hampshire Hospitals.
