Last week was Falls Prevention Week and our Falls and Fracture Prevention service in Knowsley concentrated their education and engagement events at some of the Extra Care Housing facilities across the borough.
Colleagues spoke to residents and staff about falls and fracture prevention and twelve new referrals to our service were received from the residents. Staff and residents joined an educational Q&A session which highlighted some of the key areas of the new service while looking at the hidden risk of future fractures and osteoporosis.
Information leaflets were given out which included guidance on how and when to refer to the service. The service will share feedback with the local commissioner for Extra Care Housing, and will send information that can be distributed throughout the whole Extra Care and Sheltered Housing schemes, highlighting the services offered by the new Falls and Fracture Prevention service in Knowsley.
Visit our Falls Prevention page for more details about the service.
