Lori Fair, our Clinical Lead in Maternal Mental Health Services (Silver Birch Hubs) has received the Cheshire Constabulary ‘Superintendent’s Recognition award for Outstanding Courage and Bravery' when she saved the life of a young man in extremely dangerous circumstances.
She was travelling home from work one evening and noticed a young man on a bridge over the M62 motorway, there were no emergency services there, but some members of the public.
Lori contacted the police and went to see if she could help, there was an off duty police offer who was holding the young man's coat to support his safety and sadly traffic was still flowing on the motorway. The officer asked if she could take over from him so he could speak to the police, so she held the young man's coat and talked to him for some time, police arrived with a fire engine and a trained negotiator took over. He was supported down by the fire service and taken to A&E.
Lori, another member of the public, three officers and the call handler received the prestigious award. Lori attended the award ceremony at Halton Stadium which celebrates police achievements in the past 12 months, the other member of the public and Lori were the only members of the public to receive an award this year.
Lori, pictured, with the Superintendent said "I felt very proud to work for public services on the night".
