Sefton and Liverpool Community Learning Disabilities teams have planned several events to mark this year's Learning Disability Week (15 to 21 June 2026). Organised by Mencap, the theme of this year's campaign is 'Do you see me?', focusing on individuals being seen, heard and valued.

The teams will have information in the first floor waiting area in Hartley Hospital throughout the week and are running Teams sessions for staff about the support available for people with a learning disability.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday, 16 June  (10am to 11.30am) or Wednesday, 17 June (12pm to 1.30pm). For more information about the sessions, contact Maidie Hughes.

The team will also link in with Southport Hospital on Friday, 19 June with information at the main hospital entrance to provided further guidance and support.

The Learning Disability and Autism Services also invite all staff to an inspiring and important LeDeR (Learning from the Lives and Deaths of People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People) event, which is a chance to celebrate, learn, and reflect together. This can be booked via LD Prospectus Booking System

The Learning Disability (LD) Champions network is aimed at staff who work outside of LD services to be a point of contact for their team to disseminate information and an advocate for people with LD. Please contact Georgia Fair for further information.

Further information about the events is available from Laura Howard or Maidie Hughes.
