Over 75,000 NHS staff experience physical violence and aggression each year. The proportion of lone workers sustaining injury from a physical assault is approximately 9% higher than that of non-lone workers. Lone workers are much more likely to report an assault to the police due to the severity of the incidents they experience.

If you have been issued with a Personal Safety Device (PSD), you must remember to use it as your safety matters – don’t hesitate to Raise the Alarm! Please also refer to the Lone Working policy which will provide guidance on how to manage your safety affectively.

However, if an individual or team has devices that are no longer required, please check with your line manager before returning any devices as part of our amnesty. Please check your workplace for any unused devices!

Our records show that 967 devices are missing, which costs the Trust in the region of £90k annually in licence fees.

Why should I return a PSD? If you are identified as not requiring a device, please return so it can be allocated to another member of staff.

I’ve lost my PSD, what should I do? If you have lost or having technical problems with your device, please inform your line manager and then contact Reliance Protect on 0800 840 7121 and select option 1. Alternatively, email servicedesk@reliancehightech.co.uk

How do I return a PSD? Members of staff in Secure Care or Mental Health Care Division, can simply return their device via the internal post to: Health and Safety Team, Hollins Park Hospital, The Pavilion, Hollins Lane, Winwick, Warrington, Cheshire, WA2 8WA
