Staff from Whalley have had a tour around Aspen Wood in Maghull. Lead Nurse for the project, Joey Dunn, was able to take the ward champions onto the site and upstairs to what will be the admin area.
Aspen Wood is a just few weeks away from the final part of the waterproof roof being completed and then interior fitting out can begin. The site is expected to be ready in June next year. After an extensive period of training, it will then open to service users.
Ward champions Ryan Marks, Cristina Campbell, Danielle Brierley and Gemma Hill visited the site. They are keen to play their part in the work to develop the facility for the service users, and are an integral part of the process from now to our opening next September.
Joey thanked the group, saying: “It’s important that staff get to see how it’s coming together. This building sets a new standard in learning disability design but more importantly, a new model of care for those who need it most.”
