This month’s health and safety tips focus on the importance of parking in designated parking bays to avoid slips, trips and falls and information to consider when a colleague is off on long term sick and their building access.

Parking bays

There has been an increase in slip, trip and fall incidents due to colleagues not parking in designated parking bays. Colleagues are asked to park in identified bays and not to park mounted on the sidewalks or in grassed areas. Parking in designated bays ensures the health and safety of everyone attending the site.Parking on sidewalks is damaging pathways and making it unsafe for pedestrians and blocking through roads for emergency vehicles causing potential time delay. Parking in grassed areas in damaging the grass and flower beds but also dragging mud onto pathways and roads causing slip and trip hazards. Please make sure to park in designated parking bays.

Building access for colleagues on long term sickness

If any colleagues are on long term sickness or suspended from work pending investigation managers need to ensure that the colleague’s building access is deactivated for that period of time. This can be done by asking them to hand over their ID card and any fobs.

If the situation doesn’t allow for this then the manager can contact the EstatesFacilitiesHelpdesk@merseycare.nhs.uk to deactivate the ID from the net 2 network. If its landlord premises the Estates Helpdesk will be able to provide you with the landlord contact details.
