Team Leader Supervisor L3

The Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship is suitable for anyone in a Supervisor, Team Leader, Line Manager role. The apprenticeship will give you the practical knowledge and skills you need to start your management journey.

Course start: Typically July, November and March 2025 

Duration: 15 months

High level summary of study commitment.

  • Minimum of six hours per week of study time consisting of lectures and online delivery 
  • Group coaching and subject specialist sessions / workshops 
  • Independent Study allocated every week for the duration of the course

Applicants should be aware that in addition to the study time allocated, there will be an expectation of additional study hours being undertaken in their own time.

The course covers a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours that will help you on your management journey, such as:

  • Leading people – understanding and comparing different leadership styles.
  • Managing people – how to support the development of a team, team dynamics and motivation techniques and building relationships. Managing conflict and knowing how to facilitate cross team working to support delivery of organisational objectives.
  • Communication - understand different forms of communication, how to communicate organisation strategy and team purpose, hold challenging conversations, provide constructive feedback and understand how to raise concerns.
  • How to explain and evaluate approaches to customer and stakeholder relationship management, including emotional intelligence and managing conflict.
  •  How to deliver a project including, managing resources, identifying risks and issues, using relevant project management tools. Understand the project lifecycle and roles.
  • The use of effective problem-solving techniques to make decisions using information from the team and others.

North West Education and Training, and the apprenticeship team will be hosting information and insight sessions via Teams on Tuesday 25 June.  The information and insight sessions are designed to give you an overview of the apprenticeship, and course content and the opportunity for Q&A. We recommend that both applicants and managers attend these sessions.

3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subjects

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

Functional skills are an important part of all apprenticeships and apprentices who don't already have maths and English at level 2 or above will undertake functional skill qualifications in these areas.

To apply for the apprenticeship, your supporting manager will need to complete an Authorising Manager Levy application form, which can be found HERE

Application Deadline :

July 5th for July/August Cohort

Novemeber 22nd for November/December Cohort

This form needs to be completed by your line manager in conjunction with you the applying apprentice.  Once completed all funding applications will be reviewed by the Work Force Development Education and Training  Group. Upon approval, applicants will be moved to formal application with the apprenticeship provider
