High Secure carers were in the Ashworth Life Rooms last weekend. The facility came into Ashworth a year ago and has now worked with the vast majority of patients, including staging live shows, concerts and sessions with musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
Our carers’ lead reports lots of really positive feedback from families who visited Life Rooms, met staff and toured some of the wider facilities inside the secure site on Saturday. They saw some of the patients’ art and met a range of secure staff.
One carer recorded this on the comments’ form: “Welcoming, kind, positive atmosphere. It is fantastic to look around and see what is available for my brother”. Another wrote: “You guys are great” and also: “I really appreciated seeing the horticultural section which I can imagine is very therapeutic. The staff were warm and friendly which helped to put me at ease.”
Families noted that seeing the facilities really helped them to understand the care and therapy given to their loved ones: “It’s been lovely seeing the areas that he talks about so much about! All the areas give off a calming feel.”
