Medical Administrator 

The Medical Administrator is a business administration qualification with specialist AMSPAR medical content. It is suitable for medical secretaries or those in a role using medical terminology.

This program is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary to excel in healthcare administration.

Course start: June, September and Januaury

Duration: 16 months

Qualification: Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration with AMSPAR.

Apprentices enrolled on this program have the opportunity to develop a diverse skill set, in addition to the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a business administration role. You will also study the specialist content related to the AMSPAR level 2 certificate.

  • Apprentices gain a deep understanding of Mersey Care Trust's organisational structure, the importance of effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  •  Learn essential business fundamentals and medical terminologies to become proficient in communication in administering meetings, understanding oral communication, and summarising to present data.
  • Practical training includes decision-making, communication, planning, and project management skills development.

High level summary of study commitment.

  • Minimum of six hours per week of study time consisting of online workshops, group coaching and subject specialist sessions. 
  • Independent Study allocated every week for the duration of the course
  • Apprentices who don’t already have maths and english GCSE or level 2 equivalent will undertake functional skills english and maths alongside the main qualification.

Applicants should be aware that in addition to the study time allocated, there will be an expectation of additional study hours being undertaken in their own time.

  • Eligibility: Relevant job roles to the subject matter such as Medical Administrator, Clinical Support Worker, Medical Secretary, Nurse Practitioner, Healthcare Assistant, Coordinator, Administrative, Receptionist, Supervisor etc

The course delivery model is a mix of portfolio work, group coaching sessions and independent study.

By acquiring proficiency in business administration alongside medical training, apprentices can pursue diverse career pathways within Mersey Care Trust, including administrative roles within medical departments or progression into higher-level healthcare positions.

The apprenticeship team in conjunction with the training provider will be hosting information and insight sessions for the Business Administration and Medical Administration Apprenticeship. The information and insight sessions are designed to give potential students a better understanding of the role, the apprenticeship course/programme, and the roles and responsibilities of all parties when it comes to the apprenticeships.

The Microsoft Teams session is designed to answer any questions you may have about the Business Administration and Medical Administration apprenticeship in an informal online setting.

 

 

3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject. This is at the providers discretion and relevant experience will be taken into account

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

Functional skills are an important part of all apprenticeships and apprentices who don't already have maths and english at level 2 or above will undertake functional skill qualifications in these areas.

Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same subject or higher level qualification in a similar subject

To apply for the apprenticeship, your supporting manager will need to complete a Levy application form, which can be found HERE.

This form needs to be completed your line manager in conjunction with you the applying apprentice.  Once completed all funding application will be reviewed by the Work Force Development Education and Training  Group. Upon approval applicants will be moved to formal application with apprenticeship provider
