We understand that recent events in Southport, the protests and violent disturbances, will have affected many people in different ways.

We have been working with partners to share what local support is available to those who live in the area, and some information about what happens after a distressing or frightening event, how people may feel and where to seek help should they need it.

In the early stages following such an event, psychological professional help is not usually necessary. In fact, it can be unhelpful to act too soon.
