Briefing for NHS staff: Organised Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault referral centres
National media coverage has recently highlighted cases of Organised Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault (ODFSA), a serious form of abuse where victims are subjected to sexual acts while incapacitated through alcohol and / or drugs. Increased public awareness may lead to more people seeking help or disclosing concerns to health services.
NHS staff play a vital role in recognising potential signs, responding with compassion and dignity, and ensuring appropriate safeguarding and support pathways are followed. This briefing has been shared to help colleagues understand ODFSA, recognise possible indicators and access resources, including information on Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs).
Please take a few minutes to read the guidance and familiarise yourself with the support available and also a staff quick guide.
