Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are updating X-ray facilities at Kirkby Urgent Treatment Centre, St Chads Clinic.

The removal of the current X-ray equipment will begin following the closure of the service on Friday 17 April and while the new machine is installed, the service will not be available to patients. The service is expected to re-open on Monday 1 June.

Who will this impact and how?

  • This temporary change will impact patients who are being referred by GPs, Urgent Treatment Centres/community services, or NHS 111.
  • North Liverpool patients referred by GPs can attend Elective Care at Aintree University Hospital or Kenilworth Road Diagnostic Centre.
  • Any patient attending Kirkby Urgent Treatment Centre (St Chads) will need to attend Litherland Urgent Treatment Centre.

What are we telling patients?

  • We expect this work to last just over six weeks, from Friday 17 April to Sunday 31 May.
  • The service will be available until 6pm on Friday 17 April and is expected to re-open at 8.30am on Monday 1 June.
  • The following alternatives are available:
    • Elective Care at Aintree University Hospital, Lower Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, L9 7AL
    • Kenilworth Road Diagnostic Centre, 1 Kenilworth Road, Crosby, Liverpool, L23 3AD
    • Litherland Urgent Treatment Centre, Litherland Town Hall, Hatton Hill Road, Liverpool, L21 9JN

  • If patients have been advised by a health professional to attend for an X-ray and they arrive at Kirkby Urgent Treatment Centre (St Chads), they will be advised to attend Litherland Urgent Treatment Centre or the next suitable alternative.
  • Patients are not required to bring any forms or letters; they can just turn up. No appointment is necessary.
