As part of our Mersey Care 25th anniversary celebrations, we’re inviting colleagues to take on an unforgettable challenge – and this year there’s even more reason to get involved.

  • Staff places are heavily subsidised at just £40 to cover the cost of the event

  • PLUS: 10 FREE places available (with a minimum sponsorship target of £250)

This is your chance to challenge yourself and do something special while improving your own health and wellbeing and helping us create lasting impact across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Win, win, WIN!

Join us on International Day of Charity

This year’s Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge will take place on 5 September – International Day of Charity, a date that’s particularly meaningful for Mersey Cares as it marks three years since the launch of our charity website.

There couldn’t be a better moment to come together and celebrate the impact we’ve made – and the difference we can continue to create.

And if you’ve taken part in our Step into Summer Challenge – how about taking your team to a whole new level of achievement?!

Help us reach our £25,000 anniversary target

Taking part means contributing to our ambitious goal of raising £25,000 during the Trust’s 25th anniversary year.

These funds will support projects for:

  • Service users and patients
  • Carers and families
  • Staff across Mersey Care

Importantly, this funding enables us to go beyond traditional NHS provision, supporting initiatives that enhance recovery, wellbeing, environments and opportunities in ways that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

Want to raise money for your own service?

Spotted a need within your service? Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks is a great way to make a difference! Teams can raise funds to directly support their own services (providing the project meets our eligibility criteria) making this a fantastic opportunity to do something special for the people you care for, through a rewarding and enjoyable team challenge.

Take on an iconic challenge

Not only is The Yorkshire Three Peaks one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar – it has pedigree, being a historic route since the 19th century! In 2022 it recorded 200,000+ people taking the route which takes you through some of the best examples of limestone paving anywhere in the world.

You’ll tackle:

  • 24.5 miles of stunning Yorkshire Dales countryside (takes around 12 hours)
  • The three peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough

It’s tough, but incredibly rewarding – and you’ll be sharing the experience with colleagues from across the Trust.

Fully supported every step of the way

Quite interested but wondering how you’ll manage the distance? You won’t be doing it alone. The challenge is led by an experienced team of mountain guides who will:

  • Support you throughout the day
  • Provide training advice
  • Offer practice walks in advance
  • They will also ensure you can exit the challenge at any point if you are feeling unable to complete it.

It’s a brilliant way to build fitness, confidence and team spirit before you even set off.

Why take part?

By joining, you’ll help fund projects that make a real impact – from enhancing therapeutic environments to supporting recovery-focused initiatives and wellbeing activities.

Colleagues who’ve taken part before describe it as:

“Unforgettable”
“Motivating”
“One of the best team experiences”

Rachel Munn, Talking Therapies Clinical Team Manager took part with her team in 2024 said:

“The Three peaks challenge was a fantastic day. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment at the end.  I did it with a wonderful group of colleagues from our Talking Therapies team and the day flew by with all the laughs and conversations we had.

“The guides were also excellent and encouraged us all the way. We were on a mission to complete it and it felt really good.”
