What inspired you to follow your current career path?

My inspiration for following my current career path came from starting out as an apprentice administrative assistant at just 18. During my apprenticeship, I was given the chance to study Level 2 Business Administration and ICT, which helped me build confidence, skills, and a real understanding of how valuable strong admin and governance support can be to a service.

The support I received early on from colleagues who invested their time in training me really shaped my motivation. As I progressed from my apprenticeship into Band 2, then Band 3, I was continually trusted with more responsibility, working closely with different sites, teams and managers. Each step showed me how much I enjoyed improving processes, supporting services, and contributing to the smooth running of the organisation.

When I reached a point where I felt ready for a new challenge, I applied for my current Band 4 Senior Governance Administrator role. Over the past two years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally, and being surrounded by a hardworking, supportive admin team continues to inspire me. Seeing how their dedication positively impacts staff and services motivates me to keep developing and contributing to governance in a meaningful way

What gives you job satisfaction?

I get the most job satisfaction when I complete a piece of work that genuinely makes a difference — whether that’s improving a process, making a task easier for colleagues, or helping the team work more efficiently. I really value it when people appreciate the work I’ve done, not because of the recognition itself, but because it shows that what I’ve contributed has had a positive impact. Knowing that something I’ve put time and effort into has helped others, reduced pressure on a service, or improved overall productivity is what motivates me. That sense of contributing to a smoother, more effective organisation is what I find most rewarding

What is the best thing about being part of the Mersey Care family?

For me, the best part of being part of the Mersey Care family is the relationships I’ve built with the people I work with. I’m especially close to the admin team — they don’t just feel like colleagues, they feel like genuine friends. Having that level of support, trust, and connection makes coming to work so much easier and more enjoyable. When you get on with the people around you and have that bond, it creates a positive, uplifting environment where everyone can do their best. That sense of team spirit not just within our admin team but within our wider team too, is what makes Mersey Care feel like a family.
