This week is Medicine Safety Week, and this year marks the tenth annual #MedSafetyWeek
Medicine Safety Week is about making medicines and medicine devices safer. The theme this year is 'we can all help make medicines safer'.
In the UK, we will focus not only on the importance of reporting suspected adverse reactions to medicines and vaccines, but we are also encouraging the reporting of suspected problems with medical devices and other healthcare products that are reportable to the Yellow Card scheme.
Anyone can report an issue with a medicine, vaccine, medical device (including software, apps and artificial intelligence), blood product or e-cigarette to the Yellow Card scheme.
Mersey Care believes strongly in setting the highest of healthcare standards across everything we do. This includes zero tolerance of harm from medication, which we aim to achieve through the following steps:
- Zero moderate / severe harm incidents relating to medicines
- Zero harm from prescribing, administration and management of controlled drugs
- Zero harm from Valproate
- Zero medication administration errors linked to patient misidentification.
