This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re inviting colleagues from across the Trust to take on an unforgettable challenge — and support our services in a truly spectacular way.
Why Skydive?
Imagine the thrill of jumping from 11,000 feet, securely harnessed to a qualified instructor, feeling the rush of the wind and the freedom of freefall. Now imagine doing all of that while helping Mersey Cares fund some incredible initiatives across our services.
Every participant helps us fund those extra touches that go beyond what the NHS can offer alone — for the people we care for and for our incredible staff.
When and where?
Date: 16 May
Location: Whitchurch (Tilstock) Airfield
How your support helps
By taking part, you’ll help us deliver additional resources, therapeutic activities, and wellbeing opportunities and more that make a meaningful difference across our services. Just take a look at our latest impact report to see what your support makes possible and why we’re striving to do more for service users, patients and our hardworking staff.
A bucket‑list moment
Whether you’ve always wanted to skydive or you’re looking for a challenge that means something, there couldn’t be a better time to raise awareness than during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Last year Consultant Psychiatrist, Nismen Lathif, and Clinical Lead, Tracy Harrison who work alongside the Early Intervention Team in Halton and Warrington took on the skydive to raise funds and awareness to support treatment for psychosis.
Speaking after the event, Tracy said:
"Honestly the day was amazing. Such a fantastic experience.
"The opportunity to complete a skydive in support of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust was not just exhilarating but deeply meaningful. The anticipation before the jump was intense, followed by breathtaking views that made the descent unforgettable. Knowing that this effort contributed to mental health services made the experience even more special. For me, the skydive was more than just a personal challenge—it was a powerful way to create meaningful change."
Mersey Care Assistant Capital Accountant, Carol Smith, also took part on behalf of the Finance and Procurement Team, having seen the opportunity advertised in our newsletter.
"I saw the article as a sign to finally complete my 40th birthday skydive with the added benefit of raising funds to support our services, which I know through my role can always benefit from additional funding. I wanted to fly the flag for Finance for the amazing work they do across the Trust."
