Having trouble sleeping? You’re not alone.
We all have nights when sleep just won’t come or when we wake up feeling anything but refreshed. If that sounds familiar, this group session is here to help.
Everyone’s sleep needs are different, and we know some colleagues will be doing shift work, so if you’re experiencing disrupted sleep, a few simple changes can make a big difference.
In this session, we’ll share practical tips to improve your sleep hygiene, build a calming routine, and help you drift off more easily, so you can wake up feeling rested, refreshed and ready!
This session is for colleagues who are struggling with the amount, as well as the quality of sleep that they have. It is also for colleagues who would like to know the processes behind sleep and be able to apply this to enhance their sleep experience, and regulate sleep patterns, whether on days, nights or rotating shifts.
The session aims are to:
- Understand the function of sleep and why it is so vital for our whole wellbeing
- Acknowledge biological, environmental and lifestyle factors that impact our sleep patterns; including shift work, circadian rhythm disruption, blue light exposure, room temperature, caffeine, menopause symptoms, and family‑related interruptions
- Explore ways in which we can improve the amount and quality of sleep that we have; tailored for both day and night‑shift working patterns (e.g., sleep hygiene routines, daytime rest strategies, managing light exposure, and creating a rest‑friendly environment)
- Look at the relationship between stress and sleep; including how stress affects the brain at night and how techniques such as mindfulness and winding‑down routines can help
The expected duration of the session is approximately 60 minutes and run over Teams.
