On 18 November, Mersey Care held the latest in our series of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) research and innovation forums. The day was an opportunity to highlight some of the fantastic research projects currently being undertaken by our clinicians and to also provide advice to staff who are interested in starting a research journey.

The forum was co-chaired by Krystina Stanway, Assistant Director of Allied Health Professions and Oladayo Bifarin, Research Effectiveness Lead. Over 35 members of staff attended, including nurses, allied health professionals, social workers and pharmacists, which really demonstrated the interest in research across all areas of the Trust.

A presentation was given by Janette Dunkerley, Health and Care Director (NMAHP) for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Regional Research Delivery Network North West.

Attendees also heard contributions from Shruti Sharma, Team Lead for the Planned Therapies South Sefton Team who recently started the prestigious NIHR Developing Leaders in Research Fellowship, and also from Jenny Hurst, Mersey Care’s Chief Nurse.

In her presentation, Jenny Hurst acknowledged the group’s momentum and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting staff to be research active.

Thank you to everyone who made the research and innovation forums a success this year, your engagement is driving forward a vibrant research culture for NMAHPs.
