Mersey Care and Liverpool City Council have commissioned Merseyside Domestic Violence and Stalking service (MDVS) to develop a toolkit and training for professionals, to help prevent suicide linked to domestic abuse.

We invite you to participate in a 60-minute consultation session

Why is this important?

  • Suicide rates in Liverpool remain notably higher than the national average
  • Evidence at both national and local levels consistently shows that domestic abuse is a key factor in many suicides

  • The risk of suicide related to domestic abuse increases across services without being recognised early or addressed in a coordinated manner.

What does the consultation session involve?

  • A 60-minute session for professionals to share experiences and ideas
  • The goal is to understand how suicide risk linked to domestic abuse appears in different roles, and what would help professionals respond more confidently.

What will be discussed?

  • Signs that someone affected by domestic abuse may be struggling
  • How to spot suicide risk even if someone seems “okay”
  • What actions are available when there are concerns about the person causing harm
  • What extra guidance would help professionals feel more confident in responding.

How to get involved

  • Register your interest (places are limited and will be confirmed to ensure a focused and balanced discussion)
  • If you can’t attend, you may be offered a short questionnaire to share your insights
  • For questions, contact MDVS at info@mdvs.org
