Suzanne Powell, Community Matron at Vauxhall, is retiring after 50 year of service on 10 January 2025.
Suzanne began her NHS Career as a prescription pricing clerk with the Prescription Pricing Authority in the early 1970's. In the mid 1970's she began her nurse training in Walton Hospital, Liverpool, where she qualified as a State Enrolled Nurse and took up a Nursing position in A&E. In 1992 Sue took a conversion course in and upgraded her nursing skills to a Registered General Nurse. Throughout her career Sue worked as a Nurse Practitioner at The Elms Health Centre, Ashworth Secure Services, and various other healthcare settings. Sue will end her journey as being the much loved Community Matron at The Vauxhall Health Centre.
On reflection Sue would like to add "It has been a wonderful journey with the NHS and I have met lots of loving, caring, and interesting people who all feel the same as I do about keeping the NHS what it was created for - a service from the cradle to the grave".
Sue would like to thank everyone who has supported her throughout her NHS Journey and plans to spend her retirement creative writing and she is mostly looking forward to not having to clock watch!
