Established rapidly in response to the pandemic, the Long COVID Service has provided essential care for patients with prolonged and complex physical and psychological symptoms of COVID that have continued after their initial infection.

However, with the changing healthcare landscape and funding considerations, Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board, formally served notice to us on the 6 of January 2025 to cease the service by the 31 March 2025, and its case load and clinical function demobilised accordingly.

As a result of the national funding no longer being available, a formal organisational change process has now launched. Discussions will continue with your senior leadership team around options for the redeployment of the existing workforce.

We appreciate the uncertainty this change brings which can lead to heightened anxieties for those involved. Our communications team has set up this dedicated section to keep you fully informed as you go through this process.
