ASPIRE is a leadership development programme that is aimed at all aspiring leaders (expected Bands 2-5), from clinical and non-clinical professionals, who are not currently in a leadership/management position.
The programme aims to:
- Ready our future talent with the confidence and capability needed to be a first line manager and leader within Mersey Care.
- Diversify our leadership structures to better reflect our workforce and the communities we serve. To support this, the programme takes positive action in allocating places: priority places will be given to expressions of interest from MEC, LGBTQ+ colleagues, and those with Long Term Conditions. Remaining places will be allocated based on divisional split.

ASPIRE Programme Activities
Pre & Post programme self-assessment
You’ll complete a self-assessment before and after the programme. This tool helps you identify your strengths and areas for development, both during and beyond the programme.
CARES Leadership Portfolio
Throughout the programme, the facilitators will set you a series of tasks to complete based around practicing core leadership behaviours and skills through living our CARES values. These tasks will contribute to the creation of a CARES Leadership portfolio which will capture personal, real-life examples and experiences that you can use to support you with any future internal job applications and interviews for leadership positions.
One of those tasks includes the planning and implementation of a small-scale continuous improvement project, aimed at enhancing your area of work. Full details of this project will be provided during the opening session, and you will receive guidance throughout the programme to support its completion.
