Karen Barnett, a much loved matron in Croxteth and Norris Green, retires on Wednesday 15 December after 40 years service in the NHS.

Karen started her career in the NHS as a Nursing Auxiliary at the young age of 17 and went on to complete her SEN training in 1983. She has carried out a variety of roles including hospital nursing in Whiston, practice nursing and district nursing.

In 2000, she completed a conversion course to Community Nursing specialist. Karen paved the way with others and became one of the first Community Matrons in 2005, maintaining this role ever since.  She very much loves patient contact and is well thought of by all patients she meets. She will be greatly missed by both staff and patients alike and has been an asset to the service.

Enjoy your retirement Karen.
