It was this time in 2024 that our low secure service opened to patients on the Maghull Health Park. And so to mark the occasion, service user engagement lead Lucy Cartledge, threw a party!
Senior staff joined patients from both wards for a quiz to learn about the Aspen Wood, some party games and (of course) snacks.
Deputy Director of Nursing Sandra O'Hear welcomed everyone and reflected on the first two years of the LSU. Sandra got to meet Barney the therapy dog. As in fact did everyone else!
Head of Service Greg Shelley paid tribute to the positive culture in Aspen Wood and thanked Lucy for organising the day. Lucy shared gifts of Easter Eggs to the service users. These were generously donated by a local Morrisons (other supermarkets are available) and everyone enjoyed a really powerful sign language performance of Greatest Day. Certificates were presented and a lovely time was had by all. Especially Barney.
Patient artwork produced to mark the first anniversary was displayed and added to with reflections from year two: words like 'caring', 'respect', 'kindness' and 'support' were clear for all to see.
