Dementia Unit Fern Ward at Leigh Moss has had an actioned packed week last week in celebration of Dementia Action week focus. Their focus was on encouraging people to 'Live well with Dementia'.

They held three events on Fern Ward to support and encourage service users and their carers to 'live well'.

On Tuesday 16 May, they hosted a wellbeing day for staff and service users supported by Hugh Baird College undergraduates who provided facials, hand massages and nail treatments.

On Wednesday 17 May, their step into spring event was hosted in the ward garden where carers and service users spent a lovely sunny day planting and and creating a wonderful space for our service users to enjoy throughout the summer.

On Friday 19 May, they welcomed Paul Desmet, Principal Officer for Merseytravel, Lisa Marshall Transport Information Officer for Merseytravel and Emma and Jen from Clear Channel to formally open our ward bus stop . The bus stop is part of their dementia redesign and development project on Fern Ward and is a used as a tool as part of theirengagement in reminiscence and reducing restrictive practice.

The team are very thankful for all the wonderful support from Merseytravel and Clear Channel.

The ribbon was cut by Head of Operations for Inpatient services, Toni Manley.

In attendance were Tonia Smith Service Lead for Liverpool Place, Laura Flack Modern Matron for Complex Care, Sarah Mckeown Ward manager Fern Ward and Anna Richman Deputy Medical Director.
