This advanced apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are in an assistant or support-based role, within an Allied Health profession service/team.  You should already hold a level 2 Healthcare Support qualification or who have experience of working in an assistant or support-based role.

This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and gain specialist knowledge in your specialist area. This apprenticeship provides the relevant entry qualifications to progress to our graduate healthcare apprenticeships.

The apprenticeship is suitable for:

  • Care assistants, support workers, Allied Health assistant, key workers in residential settings
  • Healthcare assistants / support workers in community and primary care environments
  • Healthcare assistants / support workers in acute and community health environments (Hospitals & Community clinics)
  • Community-based care assistants/ support workers/key workers, including those working in specialist areas eg dementia, learning disabilities
  • Personal assistants are employed directly by the individuals they support or their families

The programme includes Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if required).

Course Duration: 18 months

Attendance Mode: One day every two weeks  

Delivery: Face to Face onsite at Riverside College 

Maths and English qualifications equivalent to level 2* 

  • Been resident in the UK for the previous 3 years If there is a time limit on your stay, your VISA must cover the duration of the apprenticeship 
  • Completed care certificate
  • Valid DBS
  • Have a L2 qualification or worked in current role for a minimum of 3 months

*If you cannot evidence maths and/or English qualifications but can demonstrate you are working at level 2 at initial assessment we will support you to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship

The apprenticeship team in conjunction with the apprenticeship providers will be hosting information and insight sessions for each of the apprenticeships that are on offer. 

The information and insight sessions are designed to give potential students a better understanding of the role, the apprenticeship course/programme and the roles and responsibilities of all parties when it comes to the apprenticeship.

To apply your Line manager must first complete a Levy funding application form to secure the Trust funding for your Apprenticeship.  - Apprenticeship Application Form (Authorising Manager Approval)  

Once you have completed the Apprenticeship Application Form (Authorising Manager Approval)  ​​​​​and submit this to the Apprenticeship team.  This will then be sent to Work force Development, training and Education Group for funding approval. Once approval has been given you details will be submitted to the apprenitceship provider. 

Apprenticeship Application Form (Authorising Manager Approval) to be submitted by the end of each month for approval in the following month.
