The Government is currently in the process of developing a new plan for mental health and wellbeing. They have developed a discussion paper and call for evidence to ask the public a range of questions to help develop the plan for mental health and wellbeing.

The Department of Health and Social Care are looking to seek staff and service user views on what they can do to improve everyone’s mental health and well-being through a number of questions that will directly contribute to the paper. As social care within a mental health Trust, it is important that we respond to this and seek as many staff views as possible to influence how services are provided moving forwards. To support with this, you can either complete a questionnaire, or attend one of our social care focus groups to help us look at each of the areas in more depth.

This is a real opportunity for social care to provide views on health and well being which will support this agenda moving forwards and we would encourage as many Social Care staff as possible to attend the Microsoft Team sessions.

The dates and focus of each of the groups are:

Thursday 9 June from 10am to 12pm - How can we all promote positive mental wellbeing?

Friday 10 June from 10am to 12pm - How can we all prevent the onset of mental ill-health?

Monday 13 June from 2pm to 4pm - How can we all intervene earlier when people need support with their mental health?

Tuesday 14 June from 2pm to 4pm - How can we improve the quality and effectiveness of treatment for mental health conditions?

Wednesday 22 June from 10am to 12pm - How can we all support people living with mental health conditions to live well?

Thursday 23 June from 10am to 12pm  - How can we all improve support for people in crisis?

There is also a Teams focus group for all social work students which will take place on Friday 27 May from 10am to12pm. Invites will be sent automatically for this meeting.
