There are currently four WICs, and four UTCs hosted by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The development of the UTCs (ST Chads – Kirkby, Litherland – Sefton, Old Swan, and Garston) started in September 2023 and are currently in progress and working towards embedding the UTC’s operational principles and standards as directed and guided by NHS England.

Knowsley and Sefton
Operational 8am to 9pm, the exception being Halewood WIC and Huyton WIC on a Sunday and bank holiday with opening at 10am.
Clinical opening and closing hours 8am to 8.30pm, with the exception being Litherland UTC closing at 8pm.
Liverpool
The current operational and clinical delivery opening and closing times are as proposed, however this is not a formalised arrangement and therefore will be in scope of this consultation
There are variances in staff rest and break periods across the Sefton, Knowsley, and Liverpool UTC/WIC Centres.
Sefton and Knowsley take two 30 min unpaid breaks during the day if working a 13 hour shift.
Liverpool the staff take one 30 minute rest/break with 10 minute comfort breaks as and when required.
