Addressing Safeguarding Risks in the Early Years through a Focus on Reducing Parental Conflict
You are invited to a series of Topical Webinars and Community of Practice Workshops in January, February, and March 2025.
The audience for both the Topical Webinars and the Community of Practice workshops include all those who were invited to join us at the symposium, regardless of whether or not you were able to attend, and partner organisations or individuals who you would like to invite to attend alongside you. - People with responsibility for early years safeguarding within Children’s Safeguarding Partnerships – to help them consider the importance of reducing parental conflict in their work.
- Reducing parental conflict leads in Local Authorities (LAs) or Children’s Trusts (CTs), wherever they may sit, to help them think about the issues that are specific to early years.
- Early years and Family Hubs lead to raise awareness of the agenda so that they can support settings in their local area.
- Colleagues from services supporting adults, including adults with mental health needs, disabilities or addiction issues, who play an important role in identifying where parental conflict may be a risk to babies and children.
- Key health leaders e.g. in Midwifery, Health Visiting, Ante-natal & post-natal support to raise awareness.
- Early years system leaders (e.g. Stronger Practice Hub leads, large PVI chains) who want to develop their capabilities in supporting their settings.

Safer Sleep in Winter
There has been reports of a number of baby deaths in the region attributed to unsafe sleeping arrangements. This message is a reminder to all practitioners working with families with infants to communicate ‘safe sleep in winter’ messages. We all know colder months can be difficult for families.
Please find attached a ‘safe sleep in winter’ resource leaflet by The Lullaby Trust. There is also lots of information, advice, things to avoid and support for parents on The Lullaby Trust website: Safer sleep in winter - The Lullaby Trust

Inappropriate WhatsApp Group
There is a WhatsApp group titled "Add People". The group contains hundreds of children and young people and has inappropriate content such as naked images of AI adults. It is believed that children as young as 7 years old are being added to this group, and as the title suggests the aim is to add as many other children as possible to the group. It is clear that this spans across all of Warrington and potentially further. Practitioners should be aware of this WhatsApp group and use their professional judgement to enact appropriate action should a child they are working with has access to this group. Where appropriate we encourage practitioners to support parents to check phones to ensure children are not included in this group chat.

Warrington Christmas Appeal Nominations Now Open!
The Warrington Christmas Appeal is back for December 2024, and we have repositioned referrals as nominations (it just sounded kinder). We are really trying to make sure that the gifts end up in the households that really need them, so have worked hard adapting the system to ask for more detail and a bit more accountability.
If you would like to nominate a family that you are working with and providing support to, complete the form on the link below and register your organisation as a nominator. We would like as few registrations as possible (but don't worry, many people can use the same login) for example Westbrook Old Hall School would have one login but all the teachers/staff can use it.

Pan Cheshire Child Death Overview Panel
Following a very sad, tragic and preventable incident last weekend when children had got into difficulty in open water: Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service issued this message to remind the public that:
“The water may look calm on the surface, but there can be strong undercurrents that could pull even a strong swimmer under the water.
“And even when the weather feels very hot, the water may feel warm on the surface, but just a few feet below the surface it can be icy cold – affecting the stamina and strength of even strong swimmers.
“If you are with someone who gets into difficulty, call emergency services for help. If you can, use an object to try and reach for them, but don’t put yourself in danger by entering the water.”
Please share the Summer Water Safety Poster with your teams and print and display in public areas.
