Two of our consultants have been awarded Fellowships from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Declan Hyland (pictured on the left), a general adult psychiatrist who has worked in Clock View, Hartley and now Brooker, plus Dr John Crosby (on the right), who has worked at Ashworth for nearly 14 years and now leads on medicines and safety for the Trust, were recognised this week by their professional body, the Royal College.
Their peers present this honour after psychiatrists reach a minimum of 10 years in their roles and have proved their outstanding contribution to the discipline. These include promoting excellence in mental heath care, supporting colleagues and working with patients and carers.
Dr Crosby's award was for his work in secure services and prisons and the advancement of psychopharmacology. Dr Hyland has a particular interest in medical education and a role at Liverpool University.
Dr Hyland told us: "Being granted Fellowship with the Royal College of Psychiatrists is prestigious and an honour. It provides due recognition of the many years of service I have provided to the College in the various roles I have occupied and those I continue to occupy".
Many congratulations to them both.
