The Easter Bunny has called on us once again — and we’re answering! We know it’s only February, but due to Easter falling early this year, our 2026 Easter Egg Appeal is now underway, helping us bring some chocolate-y joy to children in care across Sefton, Knowsley, Liverpool and St Helens.

Following the wonderful support you showed for our Secret Santa Appeal and last year’s Easter Egg Appeal, we’re inviting NHS colleagues across Mersey Care to help us bring a moment of magic for children and young people who access our services. Many of these young people are facing significant challenges, and even the smallest gesture can make a meaningful difference.

Why your support matters

Each year, around 1,000 children arrive at our Children in Care services—often with very few belongings. A simple chocolate egg may seem small, but for a child who is anxious, unsettled or starting a new chapter, it can be a powerful reminder that they matter. Your donations also help our teams offer warmth, reassurance and comfort at a time when it’s needed most.

With Easter Sunday falling on 5 April, the appeal is launching earlier than usual, giving us plenty of time to gather as many eggs as possible and spread some springtime smiles!

How to get involved

You can support the appeal in two simple ways:

1. Donate online (from just £1.50!)

A small donation helps us buy an Easter egg on your behalf — quick, easy and impactful. Donate here: The Mersey Care NHS Charity: Easter Egg Appeal - Supporting Children in Care Services

2. Drop off an Easter egg in person

We’re collecting new, unopened Easter eggs at four Mersey Care Children in Care team locations:

  • St Helens Children in Care Team – Birch Unit, Peasley Cross, WA9 3DE
  • Sefton Children in Care Team – Switch House, 1st Floor, Northern Perimeter Road, L30 7PT
  • Liverpool Children in Care Team – Norris Green Family Health Clinic, L11 5AF
  • Knowsley Children in Care Team – Manor Farm Health Centre, L36 0UB

3. You can also help us by downloading a poster to put up in staff areas to help us spread the word far and wide – a welcome support to the Easter Bunny .

If you would like any further information or please email charity@merseycare.nhs.uk. We also have a public-facing poster which can be downloaded by local organisations, workplaces, schools and other community groups. If you know someone who could support us, we can send you a suitable poster to pass onwards.

A date to remember

To allow enough time for eggs to be delivered the donation deadline: Friday 27 March 2026

Help us fill our Easter baskets — and warm young hearts — before the deadline.

Thank you

Your kindness makes a real difference to the children and young people we support. Whether you donate one egg or many, you’re helping us make this Easter a little sweeter for those who need it most.

Thank you for your most egg-cellent support!
