Course information
- The training will support staff to select appropriate arm veins and use the correct equipment to collect a quality blood specimen from an adult
- Gives a clear explanation and demonstrate an understanding of the implication of venepuncture
- Apply the relevant knowledge base and perform venepuncture correctly, safely and efficiently and in line with Trust Policy
- Be able to describe the relevant anatomy and physiology of the arm and common veins used for venepuncture
- Demonstrate the skills required when obtaining venous blood samples
- Demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills
- Will be aware of and strictly comply with all policies and procedures of relevant to venepuncture
- Will take responsibility for venepuncture practice by ensuring they are competent to practice and identify any training updates within their PACE
