Two of our Admiral Nurse’s, Cheryline and Jan, recently met with local MP Sarah Pochin at her surgery in Runcorn to talk about the specialist dementia support they provide to families across Knowsley and Halton.

They discussed current dementia care needs, the importance of supporting people to live well with dementia, and the role of the service in preventing hospital admissions. MP Sarah Pochin expressed her strong support for the work they are doing and is keen to explore opportunities for community outreach within Runcorn.

At a previous event Cheryline had met with Max Hills, Sarah’s secretary, who shared his personal experience as a carer for someone living with dementia. Max spoke about the challenges carers often face and highlighted how fortunate Knowsley and Halton are to have access to Admiral Nurses, a level of support not available in many areas.

The meeting provided a great opportunity for Cheryline and Jan to explain their role in more detail, including how they deliver tailored, one‑to‑one support for patients and their families. They also outlined the ways they work within the community to improve quality of life, reduce carer stress, and ensure people receive the right help at the right time.

This was a great opportunity to speak directly with MP Sarah Pochin and raise awareness of the positive impact their specialist dementia care can offer.
