The Knowsley UCR service provides urgent community-based care for adults experiencing a health crisis, with the intention of avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting timely discharges. The service forms a key part of the integrated care pathway in Knowsley, working in collaboration with local primary, community, and acute health services.
To date, the contract for delivering UCR in Knowsley has been held by Mersey Care. However, following a recent review and in line with regional service transformation objectives, a decision has been made, by the ICB, to transfer the contract to MWL. This move is expected to enhance service integration, improve outcomes for patients, and deliver greater value for the health system.
