We have arranged the following sessions in collaboration with St Helens Deafness Resource Centre. The Deaf Awareness training is designed to promote positive action by helping participants understand the barriers that can exist between hearing and Deaf individuals, and how to reduce those barriers and challenge discrimination.
The training will cover the following topics:
- Deaf awareness
- Deaf culture
- Working effectively with Deaf people
- Communication strategies
- Introduction to the British Sign Language (BSL) alphabet and basic greetings

23 October 10am to 12 noon, Kingfisher, Hollins Park Hospital
4 November 10am to 12 noon, F12, Indigo, Maghull Health Park
20 November 1pm to 3pm, Kingfisher, Hollins Park Hospital
