There will be a forthcoming change to the District Nursing service, delivered across Croxteth, Norris Green and Aintree with effect from 1 August:

  • The Croxteth and Norris Green District Nursing teams will merge into a single neighbourhood model
  • The L9 caseload, including patients aligned to Long Lane Medical Centre will transfer to the Aintree District Nursing Team
  • The service will operate with a larger, shared caseload approach

This change is part of the wider Community Neighbourhood Working transformation and follows a detailed review of workforce capacity, demand and caseload distribution. A key benefit is that it will align patients more closely with the District Nursing teams that serve their local neighbourhood.

The current model has experienced sustained operational pressure, including high demand and reduced capacity. The new approach will:

  • Improve resilience through a larger staffing pool
  • Enable more flexible and responsive care delivery
  • Provide better alignment to neighbourhood footprints

There will be no change to referral routes or access arrangements, and no reduction in service provision. Patients will continue to receive care based on clinical need, and continuity of care will be maintained throughout the transition. The intention is to improve responsiveness over time by reducing pressure on individual teams and enabling a more flexible use of the workforce.

We will continue to monitor the impact of the change through established governance processes and will provide updates as appropriate.
