‘The Reader’, Helen Wilson joined the ward for shared reading of poems. Two service users also read poems and shared their thoughts and feelings about them. Afternoon tea went well with discussions about shared experiences in the garden, recently planted by carers and patients at our ‘Step into Spring’ event.
We were joined by carer engagement officer, Jefferey Robinson who provided information and advice for carers around support. Jeff said "I really enjoyed the carers afternoon tea. It was a celebration and recognition of the great work that carers do. It was lovely to meet many service users and some of their carers. Two carers signed up for our internal carers Support Pathway which will enable them to find further help. The staff were all lovely too. Everyone enjoyed their afternoon tea!"
We also welcomed the string quartet from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra which carers and patients thoroughly enjoyed.
Huge well done to carers champion, Sarah Jones who provides carers with weekly updates of information, events, resources, support, and training for carers.
