To further grow and improve our wellbeing offer, we want to create a resource for staff to boost your social wellbeing. This aims to support connectedness, belonging, community social value and local support for Mersey Care colleagues.
The best people placed to help shape our offer, is you, our staff, who both live and work in our communities. We want you to help build our social wellbeing offer which will be part of our staff wellbeing hub. Primarily, we are looking to start small with a view to grow bigger over the forthcoming months. We want our offer to be reflective of our whole geographical footprint, whether you live or work in Warrington, Waterloo or Whalley. We want to hear about how our workforce can connect with the community.
Our initial ask is that you tell us of any of the following within your area:
- Local ‘independent’ businesses (not chain organisations) that offer local NHS discount for staff. If you have friends or acquaintances who run local businesses, why not have a conversation to see if they offer discounts to NHS staff (restaurants, independent high street stores, garden centres, play centres etc)
- Local community support and hobby groups, choirs, knitting clubs, amateur dramatics, book clubs, carers support, dementia café’s, walking groups, litter picking groups and whatever you think!
- Free events, charity fun days, tickets for good, local music events and gigs etc.
If you can provide any information to support, please get in touch and send details to wellbeinghub
Below you can click on any of the accordions to find out what's available near you.
The Mersey Care Carer Support Pathway is now open to referrals and offers the following for Mersey Care unpaid carers:
- Support to access Carers Centres and other local community organisations to support emotional and physical wellbeing
- The opportunity to get involved in coproduction and engagement activities
- Regular updates from the Carer Engagement Team
- The opportunity to access peer support
- The opportunity to access the Carer Training Education and Support Program (TES).
You can learn more about the pathway here.
The Carer Engagement Team can also support your service by helping you plan and deliver carer engagement activities or by delivering Carer Awareness Training for your team.

Concerts for Carers is a not-for-profit charity promoting the mental health and wellbeing of NHS and paid Care workers across the UK.
What do we do?
• We provide free tickets to live events across the UK
• We award grants that provide access to mental health services including the refurbishment of Staff Rooms.
It’s free to register and there’s no cost to you as an employer.
We aim to provide a much-needed break from the daily grind, a chance to unwind, and an opportunity to enjoy live events with friends and family.
We all feel lonely from time to time. This can just be part of normal life, but it can become a problem if you feel lonely too often.
Loneliness can be described as the negative feeling we get when our need for social contact or relationships is not being met. It can be sparked by various life events, including relationship break-ups, bereavement, change of jobs, problems at work, working from home and relocating to a new area.
A recent survey led by the BBC found that young people (16-24) had the highest self-reported rate of loneliness.
It is also possible that you might have a busy social life, yet still feel lonely — if you don’t feel understood or appreciated by those around you.
Get help to cope with loneliness
If you are struggling to manage feelings of loneliness, there is help available.
The Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, provides nine months of advice and guidance to anyone who is struggling with their mental health at work.
Tickets for Good offer free and discounted live event tickets for the NHS, charity sector workers, cost of living payment recipients, all for a standard small booking fee per ticket.
Attending and experiencing live events can really enhance our sense of social wellbeing and help us feel more connected, however they can be difficult to attend - every year tickets are getting more expensive and harder to find.
Tickets for Good have provided Mersey Care staff with the opportunity to access free or discounted tickets to a huge variety of events including theatre, live music, sports, festivals, attractions and comedy.
