To help support clinical decision-making, in September 2019 clinicians across Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust were provided with a secure digital view of GP patient records, in addition to other clinical documents held by NHS trusts in Cheshire and Merseyside.
This shared view of patient information is now accessed by Mersey Care clinicians circa 7,000 times per month and is available to view through the Rio Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) using a service called e-Xchange (Share2Care). This service is pictured in the training screenshot below.
Whilst the primary benefit of providing access to this information is to support the safe and effective delivery of care, we are aware that the service has helped support time-saving efficiencies and has also proved particularly valuable for out-of-hours services.
