Medical Devices Department

The Medical Devices Department supports Mersey Care in the management of medical devices to enable the trust to conform to various national standards including, CQC 2008/11 and Managing Medical Devices 2021 – MHRA.

Our priority is to ensure that all medical devices can be tracked and traced so they can be maintained regularly in line with manufacturers’ recommendations. Regular maintenance of medical devices is essential in helping to minimise risk to our patients and staff as it ensures all medical devices in use across our clinical teams are fit for purpose.

We process all requests for brand new medical devices from teams in line with our standardisation policy. This policy helps us ensure good quality products are in use across the trust and that the best value for money is received on each order we raise.

Requests for new medical devices should be emailed to (medicaldevices@merseycare.nhs.uk) outlining what device(s) is required, quantity needed, requesting team and base as well as the applicable budget code to charge the order to.
